About us
At SolarLight Australia, our journey started the same way many home improvement stories do — with our dream home.
Like most homes, though, it wasn’t perfect.
One of the biggest frustrations we had was how dark some of the rooms were. We constantly found ourselves switching lights on during the middle of the day just to find clothes, use the ensuite, or walk through certain parts of the house. Even our ensuite felt gloomy, and our rumpus room lacked natural light completely.
A close friend suggested we look into solar skylight alternatives, and honestly, we had never even heard of them before.
After doing some research, we decided to give them a go — and ended up installing five SolarLight kits throughout our home.
We have absolutely no regrets.
The difference was immediate. Rooms that once felt dark and closed in suddenly felt brighter, cleaner, and more inviting — all without cutting massive holes into our roof or spending thousands on traditional skylights.
Then something happened that completely changed the way we viewed these products.
A major hailstorm hit our area.
The storm caused significant damage throughout the neighbourhood and even destroyed parts of our home solar system. But our SolarLight products? Completely untouched.
After the storm, we saw countless smashed skylights around the neighbourhood and read post after post online from homeowners dealing with leaking roofs and water damage caused by broken skylights.
That was the moment we truly realised how underrated this product is.
Not only had these systems transformed our home — in that particular storm they remained undamaged.
Our experience in a particular hailstorm is a personal account, not a hail-resistance certification or a guarantee of performance in future storms.
Now, to be completely honest…
I’m not a handyman.
Yes, this is now our business — but it started because we genuinely loved the product ourselves.
There are still so many Australians who simply don’t know this type of product exists, and we’d love to help change that.
Our goal is simple:
To help homeowners brighten dark spaces safely, affordably, with a solar-powered alternative to a conventional skylight.
Welcome to SolarLight Australia.
Choosing and installing SolarLight
SolarLight uses a roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar panel connected by cable to an LED ceiling light. It produces daylight-like LED illumination rather than transmitting natural sunlight. Brightness in solar mode varies with sunlight, shading and installation conditions.
Roof access, cable routing and ceiling work require suitable skills and safe access. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific model, roof type, mounting and weatherproofing. A cable entry or roof fixing may be needed; the required method depends on the property. Installation is not a guarantee against leaks.
Hybrid mains operation is model-dependent. Any new or altered fixed mains wiring, switches or power points must be installed by a licensed electrician. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the supplied driver and input-control equipment.
